Our Mission

When this regional medical center saw a need for a new ambulatory surgical center in the Newton, Kansas market, their Board of Directors acted proactively, defining their own market by continuing to invest in this small town location.

How We Achieved It.

The project involved construction of a new three story building plus a full basement. The first floor houses the ambulatory surgery center with three operating rooms, pre-operatory, and post operatory areas. The building was designed to allow the facility to expand with two additional operating rooms, and additional support areas. The second floor contains a physical rehab area, and medical office spaces. The third floor is available for future expansion.

The basement houses the buildings boiler room, the campus IT department, and departmental training areas. The IT department contains a raised floor computer room with redundant precision computer room air conditioning and humidification systems.

The mechanical system is completely independent from the existing hospital. Two heating water boilers were installed to provide both space heating and domestic water heating. Building air conditioning is provided by four large variable air volume commercial roof top units. Medium pressure, medical velocity ductwork is routed through out the building to individual fan terminal units. The building was designed to provide individual room temperature control and air pressure relationships to the various space uses.

The plumbing systems included two temperature hot water, steam to medical sterilization equipment, soften water to the domestic hot water system, deionized water and RO water to medical equipment. Medical gas systems include: Oxygen, Medical Air, Nitrous Oxide, Vacuum, and Waste Anesthetic Gas Disposal.
